Dorris Street shooting injures 1

Chattanooga police responded Saturday evening to a shooting at 5241 Dorris St. in which a male in his 20s was shot several times in both legs, police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in a news release.

Police had information on a suspect, she said. The victim's name and condition weren't immediately available Saturday night.

Lee Highway crash kills 1

One person died Friday and another was injured in a five-vehicle crash on Lee Highway, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said a tractor-trailer traveling south swerved right to miss a car that was stopped and waiting to turn.

The vehicle behind the big rig swerved left and hit the left rear area of the truck, then crossed the center line and hit a northbound car head on. A fifth vehicle traveling south hit the rear of the one that crossed the center line.

The driver of the northbound car died, and the driver who crossed the center line was injured, Atkinson said.

Motorcyclist hit by car

A woman riding a motorcycle was critically injured on Brainerd Road Friday when a man in a car turned into her path, Chattanooga police said.

Danielle Williams, 29, was thrown from the bike and suffered head and body injuries.

She was listed in critical condition at Erlanger hospital.

Charges are pending against Bernard Cheatham, 78, who was driving the Lincoln Town Car and failed to yield, police said.
