East Ridge police are investigating the suspicious death of a 70-year-old woman whose body was found Wednesday morning at her home.
Officers believe foul play was involved in the death of the woman, whose name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified, said Officer Erik Hopkins, spokesman for the East Ridge Police Department.
She was found dead inside her home on the 700 block of Hardin Drive about 11 a.m.
The cause of death is unknown, and the woman's body was taken to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, Hopkins said.
Officers are not releasing why the death is considered suspicious because the investigation is ongoing, he said.
The Chattanooga Police Department said officers from several area law enforcement agencies collaborated Tuesday to conduct an operation that produced 19 arrests, 33 warrants and seven gang members/associates arrested.
The operation was conducted to execute outstanding warrants and locate violent offenders, police said.
According to police, included in the operation were the FBI, TBI, ICE, ATF, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, East Ridge Police Department, US Marshall's Service, and the Chattanooga Housing Authority.
