Gobble gets permanent jail job

Former Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble has been named deputy chief of corrections the Hamilton County Jail, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

Gobble has served as interim jail chief since last September, during former jail chief Richard Shockley's battle with cancer. Shockley died in late January.

There were several candidates, for the position, Atkinson said, and the decision was announced today.

Gobble served as Bradley County sheriff from 2006 to 2010. Last year, he decided not to run for sheriff and made an unsuccessful bid for Congress.
