East Ridge woman knifed at her home

East Ridge police are looking for a man they say struck and knifed a woman in her home after he asked to use her telephone, according to a news release.

The woman told police that a man came to her door at 6813 Martha Ave. about 2 p.m. Tuesday and asked to use the telephone. When the woman turned to get the telephone, the man followed her inside, struck her on the head and cut her several times on her stomach, police said. The man then fled on foot, the release stated.

The woman was taken to Parkridge East Hospital with injuries not life-threatening, police say.

The man is described as white and in his late 20s, about 5 feet 6 with a shaved head and a mustache and wearing a black jogging suit.
