Chattanooga police seek child abuse suspect

Chattanooga police are looking for a man who is expected to face charges in the beating four children this evening, police said.

James Skiles, 34, is a suspect in the beating of a set of 2-year-old twins, a 7-year-old and a 10-year-old at 4905 Jeffrey Lane, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in a news release.

The children's siblings ran to a neighbor's house and called police after Skiles started beating them because they were disobedient to him, Weary said.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found four children suffering from blunt force trauma to their whole bodies, Weary said. One child is believed to have broken a leg and two of the four abused children are anticipated to be hospitalized, Weary said.

Skiles fled the scene before police arrived, Weary said.

He has six outstanding warrants unrelated to this incident and is expected to face multiple charges relating to this case, Weary said.

Anyone with information should call Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525.
