DeKalb County authorities arrest escapee, 2 others

Several law enforcement agencies hunting a man wanted on escape charges found him and arrested him and two others on drug charges.

Jackson County authorities issued the warrant for 36-year-old Benjamin Mays last Wednesday, authorities said. Mays was found hiding at a house in DeKalb County with an active meth lab, authorities said.

Police arrested Mays and two other people, Jimmy Culpepper, 52, and Deanna Fraley, 40, in the home, DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris said.

All three were charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Mays also was charged on the escape warrant, Harris said.

All three remain in jail, where Culpepper and Fraley each have a $40,500 bond and Mays hasn't had a bond set.
