Lauren Alaina draws crowd in Fort Oglethorpe

The Walmart on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe was filled with singing girls, excited moms and plenty of security to keep everyone in line.

Lauren Alaina, the Rossville-native who placed second on American Idol last season, came to the Walmart to sign copies of her album "Wildflower."

Women who had only talked through Twitter and Facebook met up.

Waiting in line, girls, who'd spent their last week of school before fall break anticipating this moment, worried about what they should say when they meet her.

"You always hear her on the radio, and I always watch American Idol," said 17-year-old Ooltewah High student Taylor Smith. "Also, she's young. She's my age."

Walmart announced last Saturday that Alaina would be coming. By Monday, announcement posters were printed, and advertisements hit the radio.

Terry Williamson, the head of security for Walmart, estimates that anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 people were waiting in line to meet Alaina at 1 p.m. today.
