Man faces sex assault counts
A man arrested Friday in Dalton, Ga., on charges of kidnapping a young female relative from Overton County, Tenn., now faces four more charges.
After Dalton police arrested Wayne Harness, 37, who was the subject of an Amber Alert, they initially charged him with being a fugitive.
Later Friday night, detectives added two counts each of aggravated child molestation and statutory rape, according to Dalton Police spokesman Bruce Frazier.
"We're going to let him face the charges in Tennessee first," Frazier said, "and then we'll bring him back, based on what the district attorney decides."
Current plans, Frazier said, are for Harness to be extradited to Tennessee on Monday.
Stabbing victim's condition serious
A 30-year-old man remained in serious condition at Erlanger hospital Saturday with a stab wound, Chattanooga police said.
Corey Twitty's wife brought him to Parkridge Medical Center just after 9 p.m. Friday with a stab wound near his right shoulder and collarbone, according to a news release from spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.
Weary said Twitty was transferred to Erlanger about an hour after he showed up at Parkridge.
Weary said Twitty told police he was stabbed by a young man with dreadlocks. He was unable to provide any other information about the suspect or the circumstances, Weary said.
