Tourney boosts Walker County elementaries

Two Walker County schools have received money raised by the Bi-Lo Charity Classic golf tournament for instructional technology needs, a news release states.

Gilbert Elementary received more than $5,200, and Rossville Elementary received more than $4,100. School Principals Matt Harris and Courtney Gadd accepted the donations.

The annual gold tournament, held in Greenville, S.C., raises funds for charitable organizations within the communities the company serves in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. In its 27-year history, the event has raised more than $48 million.
