Northwest Georgia students named to schools superintendent's Student Advisory Council

Three Northwest Georgia students have been named to the Georgia schools superintendent's 2011-12 Student Advisory Council, according to a state Department of Education news release.

The council will meet twice during the year to advise the superintendent and Department of Education about how state policies affect schools. Members also will discuss other education-related topics and serve as the superintendent's ambassadors at their schools, the release said.

Daniel Middlebrooks II from Dade County High School, Erica Manis from Whitfield Career Academy and Hunter Pruitt from Sonoraville High School are on the council.

More than 700 students applied, according to the release.
