The Erlanger Health System board of trustees unanimously authorized the sale of nearly two acres of land to the Plastic Surgery Group on Thursday night.
The 1.86 acres of land next to the Ronald McDonald House will be sold to the Plastic Surgery Group, which contracts with Erlanger, for $670,000.
The deal has been discussed for at least a year, according to Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson, the hospital's vice president and chief operations officer.
The Plastic Surgery Group will move out of its current clinic inside Erlanger's Baroness campus and build its own clinic across the street on Central Avenue, Woodard-Thompson said.
As a result, Erlanger hospital will have more room for other clinics inside the Erlanger campus.
"It will make space here for other physicians to come in and for us to grow bigger," Woodard-Thompson said.
Although there are no immediate plans for when the Plastic Surgery Group will leave or who will come in, Woodard-Thompson said that potential areas of growth at the hospital include the orthopedic clinic, cardiology and women's services.
