CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Crystal R. Freiberg is the new Bradley County attorney, County Executive D. Gary Davis announced Wednesday.

She also will work as the county's delinquent tax attorney, appointed by County Trustee Mike Smith.

"I offered Mrs. Freiberg the position because of her broad experience and knowledge of how local government functions," Davis said.

Smith said having the county attorney also serve as delinquent tax attorney "has proven to be fiscally efficient and creates accountability."

Freiberg's resume in-cludes serving the past six years as assistant city attorney for Chattanooga and previous work with a law firm handling cases for the Tennessee Municipal League.

Chattanooga City Attorney Mike McMahon said Wednesday Freiberg resigned as assistant city attorney last week. He said the position is vacant at this time but "we hope to fill it."

She and her husband, Andrew, also an attorney, and their 8-month-old son have lived in Bradley County for seven years.

She replaces Joseph Byrd, who resigned to accept a ministry position in Orlando, Fla.
