A Chattanooga man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and domestic assault after he struck his sleeping roommate with a gun over a pot roast.

Robert "Cooter Brown" Cooper, 66, pistol whipped one of his roommates while the roommate was sleeping, according to a police affidavit. When the roommate awoke, Cooper accused the man of eating a whole pot roast.

The two men struggled over the gun before the roommate was able to release the gun's magazine, according to the affidavit. Cooper then allegedly leveled the gun at the roommate's chest and stated that there was a bullet in the gun's chamber. A third roommate was able to grab the gun and eject the final round.

Cooper is in custody at Hamilton County Jail.
