Teaching subject of film at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences

Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences located at 865 E. Third St. serves K-5 and 6-12 in their lower and upper divisions respectively.

Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences will offer a free screening of the documentary film "American Teacher" on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.

Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth, "American Teacher" chronicles the stories of four teachers who live and work in disparate urban and rural areas of the country. The film provides a definitive look at the state of teaching in America and offers a potential solution to education problems.

The film is narrated by actor Matt Damon and is presented by the Teacher Salary Project, a national nonprofit advocating improvement in teacher salaries and working conditions.

The showing will take place in the Creed Bates Auditorium at CSAS. Attendees can receive information about ways to get involved in education reform following the film.
