A woman who claims she shot her husband in self-defense has a trial date on murder charges.

Regina Copeland, 32, faces a first-degree murder charge in the trial scheduled for Nov. 13 before Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman. The judge today set the trial date and also a pre-trial conference date of Sept. 24.

Copeland's attorney, Lee Davis, maintains his client was the victim of domestic assault and was protecting herself when she shot her husband Demetrius D. Roshell on Sept. 8.

Copeland is free on a $5,000 bond.

Witnesses told police the pair were arguing in a vehicle near her home at 20 13th Ave. when Roshell yanked Copeland out of the car and into the house.

The woman retrieved a .357-caliber Magnum revolver from the bedroom, told Roshell to leave the house and fired, according to court records.

The couple married in January 2011 and have an infant son.
