Chickamauga Zoning Administrator Jim Powell said he received a fax from Chapman withdrawing his proposal to move North Georgia Firearms & Ammunition from its current Fort Oglethorpe location.
"I think he made the right decision," said Sharon Armour, the director of the Academy for Little People day care.
Armour rallied parents to oppose Chapman's initial plan to build an outdoor shooting range behind a metal-sided building at 1568 LaFayette Road that previously housed G&H Farm & Garden supply.
Chapman said he pulled his proposal because parents threatened to take their children out of the day care if his business was across the road.
"I don't want to cause Sharon any grief," he said.
