TechTown Foundation hosts 100 girls from area for STEAMgirls' Movie Night

TechTown Foundation hosted almost 100 girls in grades 6 through 12 from 28 schools for a STEAMgirls' Movie Night Out at the Majestic Theater, thanks to generous support of the Best Buy Foundation Community Grant program.

The girls saw Academy Award-nominated film, "Hidden Figures," about the untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson - African-American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

The visionary trio crossed gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big, which is a key hope for the STEAMgirls program.

TechTown Foundation is a local nonprofit dedicated to inspiring imagination, innovation and collaboration in children ages 7-17 by using hands-on instruction and state-of-the-art technologies. Rana Hill
