Alarming rate of Army suicides

Every combat casualty among our armed forces in war is painful.

But also tragic are losses of lives in our military from suicide.

The U.S. Army had its highest number of suicides in July - 32 - since it started releasing monthly totals in 2009.

Why? The causes are varied, and some are surely unfathomable.

But it should be obvious that thorough efforts to help any soldier who is believed to have self-destructive tendencies are necessary.
