Georgia businessman's unusual protest against Obama

A small-business man in Georgia is making an unusual statement against the economic policies of President Barack Obama and of Washington in general.

Bill Looman owns U.S. Cranes LLC in the little town of Waco, Ga., west of Atlanta near the Alabama line.

Looman, a Marine Corps veteran, told ABC News he cannot afford to hire workers in the current economic crisis. He does not believe Obama's economic policies have helped the economy - quite the opposite. He said many of his customers have had to shut their doors because of the high cost of compliance with federal mandates and regulations. He has had to lay off three of his own nine employees.

And so he placed on his company trucks this message: "NEW COMPANY POLICY: WE ARE NOT HIRING UNTIL OBAMA IS GONE."

Looman quickly and disturbingly got death threats and hate mail from some who took exception to his views. He even got a visit from the Secret Service after someone apparently reported him as a national security threat. (The visit didn't turn up evidence of any such threat.)

Obviously the president is not solely responsible for the weak economy. There is blame to go around. But to the extent that he can influence the economy, he has favored heavy government spending that is not helping matters. We sadly understand the hesitation or inability of small businesses to hire workers while those policies remain intact.
