Chattanooga's 10,000th Volkswagen

It's always fun to mark milestones in our individual lives and in the economy.

After Chattanooga spent years seeking to attract big economic development investments, it was fantastic news when Germany-based Volkswagen decided to build its billion-dollar car-manufacturing plant at Chattanooga's Enterprise South industrial park.

Now, those cars are flowing off local assembly lines, generating economic activity and providing jobs for thousands of area residents.

And the latest milestone at the VW plant is that it has produced its 10,000th car. Dealers have been receiving shipments of the new Passats.

We anticipate many more celebratory days as Volkswagen's operations continue -- and perhaps expand -- in Chattanooga in years to come.
