This is 2012. So we all know, of course, that we are going to have another very important presidential election. Very soon.
We'll be nominating Democratic and Republican presidential candidates in just a few months. And we, the American voters, will be making our decisions in November, in just seven months.
There's no mystery about who the Democrats' presidential candidate will be. Democrat President Barack Obama, of course, will be running for a second term. Does that inspire you, excite you, encourage you? Or do you have some other response?
Well, as the old political saying goes, "You can't beat 'somebody' with 'nobody.'"
So there's much speculation about who the prospective Republican nominee will be to challenge Obama.
Mitt Romney currently seems to be the leading prospect for the Republican presidential nomination. Does he inspire you? Well, how about Rick Santorum, or Newt Gingrich, or Ron Paul -- or who else?
Do you wonder how Obama won a first term, is running for a second one, and who will be one of those Republican "names" running against him in November?
Our United States of America surely is a great nation -- the greatest nation the world has ever seen. We surely have had some great presidents. But admittedly, we have had some rather mediocre ones.
Will we elect a great president this year? It's not a question of whether we deserve one. But we really need a great president!
Just think of the pressing issues, ranging from the domestic economic welfare of all of us to questions of international war and peace.
Do you see a presidential prospect with the stature of a George Washington or an Abraham Lincoln this November -- or why not?
Should we be satisfied with someone who is far less qualified?
Admittedly, there's not much time. Just think of those names -- Obama versus Romney, or Santorum, or Gingrich, or Paul -- or who else?
Are you inspired, optimistic, pessimistic -- or what?
What kind of president do you believe we should elect to lead our marvelous United States for the next four years?
What do you believe our results will be? What do you think we should do about it now? Is there time for a good solution?
