So, it's Romney vs. Obama

Rick Santorum was not making much headway in his bid to become the Republican Party's presidential nominee in 2012, so Wednesday he faced the inevitable. He has formally suspended his run for the GOP presidential nomination.

In November, American voters must make a choice between Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat Barack Obama.

Does that inspire you?

Or does it seem to be a rather dismal choice?

Do you see a person of the stature of George Washington or Abraham Lincoln as we vote again to fill the nation's highest office?

There are huge issues ahead, questions of economics, taxation and world leadership.

Do you want Obama or Romney to lead our great United States of America for the next four years?

The Romney vs. Obama contest surely will be hard-fought, with enthusiasm on the part of some but with dismay on the part of others.

Economic issues will obviously be of utmost importance. We hope there will be no huge questions of war or peace.

Obviously, we need to elect a great president in 2012. It should be obvious that we need to also elect great senators and great representatives to lead Congress.

We American voters rarely have what we consider perfect choices in our national officials. But we obviously are facing a very important presidential choice.

Do we deserve better? Are you optimistic? Or have we the people, somehow failed to insist upon the excellence in leadership that we need?
