Communist N. Korea rocket fails

Communist North Korea has been a thorn in the international flesh of peace lovers ever since it was created from a Russian occupation zone at the end of World War II.

We painfully remember the North Korean Communist invasion of peaceful South Korea in 1950, to which the United States responded in an unpopular and costly "punch-pulling" war that ended in a bitter stalemate in 1953.

More recently, we are concerned over North Korea's effort to launch a rocket.

North Korea said the rocket was designed to carry an observation satellite into orbit, but the United States and other Western nations believe it was a cover for the testing of a long-range ballistic missile.

Tensions are high about North Korea's nuclear program as some reports from the Korean penninsula say Pyongyang may be planning another atomic test soon.

North Korea appears to be threatening its neighbors and the world with the possibility of another serious war.

But while it's bad news that communist North Korea was testing a rocket that might deliver nuclear weapons, the good news is that the launch failed.

The rocked disintegrated over the Yellow Sea, an embarrassment for North Korea and setback for new leader Kim Jong Un.

"We believe that the rocket fell apart several minutes after takeoff," said a spokesman for the South Korean Defense Ministry.

Hooray! But the North Korean Communist threats and hostility in its area unfortunately continue.
