Obama proposals remove freedoms

The Obama health care bills are so long that it would take three days for anyone to read them. Cnnmoney.com explores the five freedoms we will all lose under this plan.

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan. The federal government will impose a minimum list of benefits that each plan is required to offer.

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs.

3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage.

4. Freedom to keep your existing plan. This is the freedom that the president keeps emphasizing. Yet the bills appear to say otherwise.

5. Freedom to choose your doctors.

The greatest threat of this plan is the establishment of socialism in place of the freedoms we have enjoyed.

Share some time with less fortunate

Shameful how money and prestige can influence politicians.

Because the residents of Signal Mountain are upset over the homeless having found a new place at the foot of their mountain, the city is giving the Union Gospel Mission a rough time.

I was led to the mission to play the piano. What a joy to see these men sing along and enjoy the music.

We were welcome and ate with these people about three times a week. I also cooked meals at home and after the service helped serve the food. We arrived early and stayed late just to talk and visit with them personally.

For those who oppose the mission's location, go to church Sunday and ask God what you can do to help your neighbor, and that doesn't mean those next door. It could mean volunteering to share your Christianity with another human being less fortunate than you.

Jesus healed the sick, lame, brokenhearted, and delivered a man from demon possession.

By helping at the mission, you might be following in the footsteps of Jesus.

Obama taking away our freedom

Obama told us the truth. Campaigning before the election he said he would change the way America runs and he's well on his way. Does the Constitution delegate the power to confiscate and redistribute private wealth to the federal government? Does it delegate power to force "cap and trade" or so-called "universal health care" upon the people or the states? Does it delegate the power over private industry, such as banking, auto manufacturing, energy or the likes? Or the power to disarm American citizens under any set of circumstances, real or imaginary?

No such powers were delegated to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution. Unlike many ill-informed American citizens, Obama knows it but he doesn't care.

Since no clause exists in the Constitution which specifically assigns any of these power to the federal government, Amendment 10 applie s... "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." Obama is taking away our freedom. Wake up ,America!

At 71 years of age, I've always held respect for the office of president, whether I agreed with their policies or not. I have no respect for Obama. He scares me.

President's changes aren't what we need

Our congressmen have gone back home for their August recess. In grammar school we received only 15 minutes for recess and we had to really hurry when the teacher rang her bell to go inside. Let's "ring the bell" of our congressmen and let them know that many of us are not in favor of the health care takeover.

Sure, there need to be some changes, but not what our president is advocating. I have excellent insurance and feel that all American citizens should have insurance. We must do something now to stop this nonsense.

Our republic is swiftly slipping away from us. Yes, I listen to Fox News and am thrilled to know that there are a few voices shouting the truth. Yes, I am a senior citizen and thankful that God has given me the good health to enjoy the freedom that we still have -- the freedom to be heard.

Fellow citizens of all walks of life, let us stand up and be heard so that our great nation can continue to be the land of the free.
