Voter photo ID an illogical step

Thanks very much for your editorial "A botched voter ID system," (June 6).

I am an octogenarian who has never missed an opportunity to cast my ballot since I first became of legal age to exercise the franchise. Yet, if I have to go to the inconvenience of getting a photo of myself before I will be issued a ballot at the polls, I may forego that right, privilege and, indeed, civic duty.

People of my age are exempt from having a photo on their driver's licenses, and to require a photo ID to be eligible to vote is inconsistent. Rationale for this legislation totally escapes me.

At least China keeps its jobs

China is becoming a country of great wealth, even if their employees are not paid very well. At least they have a job and a place to live.

Today in America we are beginning to live below the standards of China. Our dollar is less valuable than Canadian money. We have more and more homeless people because they .are losing their homes and their jobs. We sure don't see China moving their factories over here, do you? They keep the factories there in order to employ their people.

That is what is wrong with this country now. All of the companies who have moved overseas are somewhat traitors to their fellow man in this country for not wanting to give Americans the chance to have a decent job. CEOs live high off the hog while more and more people are wallowing in poverty. I am beginning to believe I will have to move overseas also if I want to find a job. There sure aren't enough of them here anymore.

Riverbend boat assignments unfair

It has come to our attention that the parking of boats at Riverbend is not handled correctly.

After waiting overnight to sign in and being assigned a spot and selecting said place, we have found that people with larger boats are given the privileged places.

These people were not there at the signing time, and this has happened every year.

You are given numbers, etc., as your place in line represents, but the people who handle this let the yachts and moneyed people in ahead.

Can someone please explain this? Does our whole country bow to money?

These people should stand in line like others. We have gone back to what our forefathers left England and other countries to escape.

P.S. I do not own a boat.
