Good Deed: People give freely to honor service

Good Deed: People give freely to honor service

October 7th, 2012 in Opinion Letters

My husband has had many doctors' visits over the last several years, and when appointments ended around mealtime he wanted to eat at Wally's on McCallie Avenue.

He was a proud Marine who served during the Cuban missile crisis and in Vietnam. There were several times he wore his Marine cap when we went to Wally's. On one occasion, after a meal, we were told that our meal had been paid for and my husband was given a note of thanks and appreciation for his military service.

Since my husband is battling Alzheimer's disease, these acts of kindness were so very much appreciated. A grateful heart and many thanks to the unknown people who gave so freely honoring my husband's military service and our great country.
