What gay marriage will do to America

The Supreme Court will be deciding whether to redefine marriage. What harm can redefining marriage do? Massachusetts has redefined marriage. Now homosexuality is being taught as a normal and healthy lifestyle in all the schools from kindergarten through high school. A 5-year-old student went to his father and told him about a book the teacher read about two princes falling in love. This father was arrested because he would not leave the school until he spoke with the principal who refused to discuss this. He went to court and was told now that gay marriage was the law, he had no rights as a parent. To be a good citizen, his child must learn this.

The high school students (in Massachusetts) are given a booklet titled: "The Little Black Book." This book includes descriptions of graphic sexual acts. There is a list of gay bars given where a student can hook up with men of all ages and can view porn on TVs. What can a concerned parent do?

The Obama Administration has asked the court to throw out the Defense of Marriage Act. Write the Supreme Court; public opinion matters: The Supreme Court Bldg., 1 First St. NE, Washington DC 20543. For more info-www.massresistance.org

Animals are suffering because of our greed

Hundreds of thousands of dogs suffer in puppy mills in this country. The dogs are prisoners of greed. They are locked in small cages. They freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer. The dogs never get out of their prisons. They are bred over and over again until they die.

The state and federal governments must address this issue through legislation and enforcement of laws. The commercial breeders and brokers have huge, well-funded lobbying efforts. But the protection of animals is the bigger issue here. Many animals are dying and suffering, and this must be stopped.

Pet owners must be held accountable for the suffering caused to helpless cats and dogs by neglecting to spay and neuter. Legislation must address this issue immediately.

Please help.

Foamy residue in local streams a concern

I would like to express my concern about the amount of chemical runoff in the streams around the Signal Mountain Middle-High School and the Signal Mountain Golf Course. I hike these lovely trails several times a week and have noticed the foamy residue in the streams down from the golf course around Rainbow Lake over the years.

However, what I saw Easter Sunday around SMMHS looked as if someone had spilled a jumbo bottle of shampoo into a stream bed at a bridge just below the school.

I wonder if this residue comes from fertilizer and pesticides sprayed on the grounds and sports fields there and whether there is an attempt to control what pollutes the surrounding woods and therefore the wildlife dependent on those waterways at either of these places?
