Commissioner's funds aid arts accessibility

Hamilton County Commissioner Tim Boyd donated $20,000 from his discretionary funds to ArtsBuild's (formerly Allied Arts) Community Cultural Connections grant program at a presentation last month.

The CCC grant program, established in 2012, is a direct result of one of the primary goals of Imagine Chattanooga 20/20, the community's long-range cultural plan. The purpose of the CCC grants is to make arts and culture more accessible to underserved populations inclusive of geographic area, ethnicity, age and individuals with disabilities. In 2012, 23 Hamilton County organizations, including neighborhood associations, social service organizations and faith-based groups, received a total of $60,000 through the CCC grant program.
