Recently, I had an appointment on Shallowford Road in East Brainerd's road repair area. Two narrow lanes of traffic and a line of paving trucks obscured a left turn I needed to make.
I decided to park across the street and try to walk. I stood waiting for a break in traffic. The driver's door of one of the trucks across from me opened and down stepped a gentleman who calmly walked into the road, held up his arms and stopped traffic. He took me by the arm and escorted me to safety.
I was so moved that I didn't get his name, but I want him to know how much I appreciated his kindness.
