Leverage key to workable diplomacy

The Saturday Chattanooga Times editorial demonizing Sen. Corker is yet another example of obtuse progressive propaganda la Saul Alinsky.

The centerpiece of your inane argument poses a false choice - "war vs. diplomacy." Diplomacy only works under the threat of substantial financial or physical sanctions.

As a student of history, I know of no adversarial international political intercourse where diplomacy has ever been effective without palpable leverage. War is not a potential alternative. Like the tango, it takes two able counterparts to engage in it.

There is no country or coalition of countries on earth militarily capable of waging war against the United States. Proffering the threat of war is a ridiculous lie.

Mr. Obama's terrorist appeasement accord (what some dishonestly refer to as a "nuclear agreement") is merely another in a continuing series of cowardly excuses to shirk the commander in chief's duty to protect and defend the interests of our nation and its allies.

Progressive support of this charade can only be characterized of lemming-like ideological sycophancy.

Lions and religion and guns -- oh my

I am 86 years old. I want to give you something to think about. You can decide for yourself if you agree or not.

The Bible says the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. If your religion does any of these, get out of it and turn to Jesus, our only way to heaven.

I was wondering, how many people are killed by an unarmed person? Please check!

A man kills a lion; the news media wants you to hate this person. Let the courts decide what to do; just report it as news.

The government wants our guns that we use for protection. Do they want to give up their protection?

A country divided will fall. We are in great danger.

Safety net programs should be protected

I have worked very hard since I was 18. I'm 71 now and have paid all of my dues to Social Security (and Medicare).

I would like to see it kept strong, and along with the COLA increase, to be more than it is. It just doesn't cover inflation at all, and with two years (in the past) of no increase it makes it more difficult to make ends meet.

Please protect Social Security and Medicare for all working and retired citizens.

Obama visit only exploits tragedy

This is a response to the lady from Signal Mountain who said President Obama didn't come to Chattanooga because there were no black people killed July 16: Why should President Obama come help Chattanooga exploit the tragedy that happened July 16, 2015, just to try and get Chattanooga on the map?
