Recently I visited Sophie's, a gift shop on North Market Street, to buy some vases. I have just completed a remodel of my home and was excited to get things decorated after living through the mess. I bought a pretty serpentine vase holder with 10 little delicate vases. I hung two shelves on my living room wall, one above the other, and placed all the vases on the shelves. It was so pretty.
I left to walk the dog and, when I returned, the top shelf had fallen onto the bottom shelf. All but five of the little vases were broken. Embarrassed, I called Sophie's to see if they could order replacements from the manufacturer. The next day, I got a call from Sophie's telling me that they felt so bad for me that they were replacing the entire serpentine holder with the vases!
I appreciated this good deed and the unexpected kindness.
