Legal Aid of East Tennessee presented Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Chattanooga Area with the 2016 Alexander Hamilton Award at its annual Pro Bono Awards Night. The award recognizes nonlegal entities that have worked to further access to justice for Chattanooga residents.

Habitat was recognized for its collaboration with local attorney David Coates and Legal Aid to offer an "Estate Planning Clinic" earlier this year for Habitat homeowners. Nearly 40 homeowners had wills drafted and notarized at the daylong clinic to protect their homes, children and other assets.

Habitat is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the Chattanooga area by building simple, decent and affordable homes for low-income families.
