Good Deed: Miss Marcia appreciates her grocery store angel

To borrow a phrase from playwright Tennessee Williams, my life has been richly blessed by "the kindness of strangers." Usually, I express thanks for those kindnesses. But, in the busy days before Christmas, I had an encounter that left me so rattled I failed to learn the name of my guardian angel.

While shopping at a market, I found myself short of the cash required to pay for my order. Behind me, a lady who knew me only from my years on NewsChannel 9, offered the clerk a bill and said she wanted to pay for my groceries. Although she protested, I gave her the dollars I did have and thanked her for her kindness. But a gesture of that sort deserves more, and I have no idea how to formally thank my new friend. All I know is that she lives in Harrison.

My hope is that she will read this and know how much her kindness was appreciated.
