Lawsuit fees bill the right course

Thanks for sharing the great news - "Tennessee Senate passes bill to make lawsuit losers pay fees."

This has long been an issue of concern, and in many places, the justice we'll now see doesn't take place.

To the friends I know who have been involved in a suit, I've always asked who had to pay the fees. Sadly, it wasn't always like this bill. This is the just thing to do for both parties, and is a type of insurance in a way.

If someone is to make a suit against a wrongdoer, should they be charged to only make things right? In the court system, suits are not about revenge but are the closest thing, in many cases, to justice after wrong has been done.

The last concern should be how to pay for it, and this bill ensures just that.

Blood donation reminders needed

I, like Harry Geller, was a longtime donor at Blood Assurance. Because of health issues and a needed medication, I am no longer eligible to donate.

Remember, the rarest blood is the type that you need and is unavailable. Remember also that the best way to get us to think about donating is a gentle reminder, not just the Little Debbie or T-shirt you are given.

There is a daily need for more than 400 units of blood. Please consider donating rather than complaining.

Trust in God to survive loss

I am writing about TFP columnist Mark Kennedy's story last Thursday titled "Life after the death of children." The column was inspiring and very encouraging but needed one more important advice - trust in God.

I also survived the death of two of my four sons. My second son died 16 hours after birth. My third son, 20, and away at college, died instantly when struck by an automobile going 35 mph that ran a red light. His death devastated my whole family.

He was a very good person and had recently become active in an evangelical group. God was ready for him. There were so many days I couldn't have handled it by myself, but God was always there to help me. Forty five years have passed. I believe he is with God - where I want to be.

Reader outraged by flag vandal

I am trying to hold in my rage at Emily Warren for taking down the U.S. flag and Tennessee state flag and stomping on them.

The solution is simple enough. Let the taxpayers pay for her one-way ticket to Syria so she can learn what it is like to be without a country.
