We're lucky to have a quality newspaper

When we return after time away from Chattanooga, we realize there are many facets of the community that we have missed, including the topography, the weather, the cultural events and so on. In that long list - somewhere around the top - is the daily delivery of the Chattanooga Times Free Press to our doorstep.

Many communities our size and larger no longer have a daily newspaper; Huntsville, Ala., and Baton Rouge, La., are examples. Not only do Chattanooga and the surrounding communities have a daily news source delivered and online, the TFP provides op-ed pages that cover all points along the political spectrum and investigative journalism (witness Tyler Jett's North Georgia coverage) that is not surpassed in communities with populations many times that of the TFP's distribution footprint.

We have no connection to the TFP, and we hardly know anyone associated with the paper. We pay the full tab to subscribe, and it is a bargain. We also find that it makes a great gift to friends and family. We hope others appreciate the attributes of the Chattanooga region, especially the privilege to subscribe to a truly great local newspaper.
