Dustin Thorn is an avid historical relic hunter. Using his metal detector, he unearthed the Walnut High School ring in 1991 in Rossville, Ga. In the days before the Internet, he could not find contact information for the name inscribed in the ring or the high school, which is in California.
Then comes social media. Dustin found Donna on Facebook and sent her a message, asking if she had lost her high school ring. She was so excited and weary at the same time but after seeing pictures she knew it was her ring.
Dustin had moved out of the area but after nearly a year he returned to Rossville, and Donna had her ring once again.
