The Rant

The Rant

June 18th, 2017 in Opinion Rants

Clay Bennett's June 11 cartoon mistakenly identified James Buchanan as the worst president in American history. Obama holds that title.

Heard about Trump's tax cuts? Money for the top 1 percent and the top 20 percent. Absolutely nothing for the middle class. Glad you voted for him?

Many of us were not for Obama. Let's give Trump a chance; he is on our side! He is trying to save the country.

The Chattanooga Times said the U.S. is the world's worst carbon dioxide polluter. Shouldn't other countries send us money to fix the problem instead of the reverse?

Why do Republicans have to explain everything Trump says or tweets? I have two ears and don't need an interpreter.

Those who see Trump as faultless didn't read the two June 10 Free Press columns. Neither defended Trump's actions, but admitted his problems.

You don't like our North or South Civil War monuments? Move to New Orleans.

If Jim Comey leaked, then he didn't lie. If he lied, then he didn't leak. You can't have it both ways.

Watch Comey, don't pay attention to Republicans passing a law scrapping Dodds-Frank. Not until we have another "too big to fail" moment along with another "Great Recession."

The USS Gabrielle Giffords has wonderful gun control — laser designated or autonomous targeting to reach out to 9,300 yards at 220 rounds/minute.

Between the finance and health committees, the Democrats held 100 hearings on the ACA. The Republicans are trying to pass their health plan in secret.

Stop the witch hunt. You lost. Nothing will be exposed except your big egos. Remember the American people who want health care and tax reform.

Why should we belong to the Paris Climate Accord when 90 percent of the countries won't try to meet the standards? We are cleaner now than 90 percent of the countries.

Free Press columnist Robin Smith says under Trump, America is winning. In another life, she could have been in charge of arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Media negative on Trump, says columnist John Kass. Trump should not have engaged in a war of words with people who buy ink by the barrel.

Christian Democrats, you are commanded by God to pray for our president. We want him to be successful. It was very hard for me to pray for Obama, but I did.

Hillary Clinton will be the first person to run for president who has more excuses for losing than she has electoral votes.

"I will tell you that I did not say that" does NOT mean he did not say it! Even his son says he said it.

Donald Trump will lie, bluff and counterattack his way through the investigations. Why wouldn't he? That has gotten him to where he is today.

How can our city justify paying millions to beautify Miller Park when our children can't pay for school lunches and homeless people live on the street?

June 6, D-Day 1944. Not one word in the paper about it. Some paper.

So, Republicans, maybe you might rethink gun control now?

The land of the free and the home of the brave is being run by men who checked their self-respect at the White House door.

Why aren't coupons listed as being in "most Sunday papers"?

The media would have us think that Trump is the only alleged dirty politician. Why not investigate all congressmen for kickbacks, PACs, Russian connections?
