WASHINGTON - Darkness had already fallen over the City of Light by the time U.S. Sen. Bob Corker arrived at the scene of the massacre.
It had rained most of the day, deepening the somber mood already hanging over the city. So the mourners watched mostly in silence as the senator joined them outside Le Carillon, the Parisian pub-café where just a week earlier terrorists had gunned down more than a dozen people.
In honor of the victims, men and women doing nothing more than enjoying a warmer-than-usual autumn evening, Corker placed a wreath decorated with red, white and blue ribbons next to the stack of bouquets and candles that have been piling up on the sidewalk since the attacks.
