U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., said last week he may have some job possibilities with trade associations after his term expires in January.
"The headhunter associations are contacting me," Wamp said.
Wamp is serving out the remainder of his term as the 3rd Congressional District congressman. He made an unsuccessful attempt at a bid for the GOP nomination for governor, losing to Bill Haslam last month.
Although he would not give specifics, Wamp said trade associations he would be interested in involve energy, defense or transportation.
He said many of the trade associations are looking for Republican leadership because of a general feeling that Republicans will win seats in the House in the November elections
GROUP TO HOST VOTE 2010 EVENT
The Democratic group Organizing for America will hold a Vote 2010 event Tuesday at 6 p.m. The event will be held at Hamilton County Democratic Headquarters at 1467 Market St.
"This event in Chattanooga is part of our ambitious Vote 2010 plan to reach out to 15 million voters before the November elections," said Jeremy Bird, deputy director of the organization, in a news release.
If Republicans regain control of Congress, the party will attempt a government shutdown and begin a repeal of Democratic legislative victories, the news release stated.
NATIONAL TRAILS SYMPOSIUM
The office of Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey last week reported the county will host a National Trails Symposium Nov. 13-17 at the Convention Center.
"The conference will attract 600-800 attendees, but more importantly, it will bring national attention to our community," an e-mail from Ramsey spokesman Mike Dunne stated.
Dunne added the county officially will open the Enterprise South Nature Park on Nov. 4.
"The November Symposium is a wonderful opportunity for local folks who are interested in or work in outdoor recreation to attend a major conference with educational sessions, specialized vendors and great special events," Dunne wrote.
