Well, the months-long debate over purchasing chairs for the county's courts has passed - despite last minute opposition from the Hamilton County Commission's Finance Committee.

So-called "Chairgate" is over, with a 6-3 vote.

Without public discussion against the resolution, Commissioners Tim Boyd, Joe Graham and Warren Mackey voted against the matter. Last week, Graham praised the resolution saying it would save taxpayers $5,000.

The county will buy chairs for criminal and sessions courts for $81,857. An initial resolution in October asked for commissioners to pay $86,000 for chairs only in criminal court.
