The Hamilton County Commission has new leadership.

Commissioner Chester Bankston will lead the commission as chairman for the next year, and Commissioner Randy Fairbanks will serve as vice chairman.

Each won in separate 5-4 decisions, with the same bloc supporting them.

Commissioners Sabrena Smedley, Fairbanks, Bankston, Tim Boyd and Marty Haynes voted them in.

Commissioners Greg Beck, Jim Fields, Joe Graham and Warren Mackey offered other nominations and votes.

Bankston, who replaces Fields as chairman, previously served as vice chairman.
