Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson has been selected to serve on the Mental Health Transport Committee and Legislative Committee of the Tennessee Sheriff's Association.
Watson, a former member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, said he's experienced in such matters and will bring expertise to the table.
"Dealing with individuals with mental health problems in a jail setting is a constant challenge," he said. "Transporting them safely and securely to mental health appointments or to other facilities has become an important point over the past few years. I'm looking forward to examining this issue in depth to find ways to assist sheriff's offices across Tennessee."
The Tennessee Sheriff's Association represents sheriffs across the state on legislative and law enforcement matters, according to a news release.
