The Hamilton County Commission has elected Greg Beck as its new vice chair.
He replaces Randy Fairbanks, who lost in a 5-3 vote in Beck's favor. The commission split in a 4-4 vote between the two in September.
Commission Chairman Chester Bankston asked to delay the vote until an absent Commissioner Tim Boyd could attend and vote.
"We have a quorum," Beck said, adding the decision should not be delayed because a commissioner was on vacation.
Commissioners Jim Fields, Joe Graham, Warren Mackey and Greg Martin voted for Beck.
