Republican members of the Tennessee House of Representatives are starting the process needed to potentially remove embattled lawmaker Rep. Jeremy Durham from his leadership position.

The move would take an action from the House Republican Caucus, because the caucus elected Durham to serve as the Majority Whip, said House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga.

"The only way for the caucus to speak out on that is for at least five members to ask for a meeting for the purpose of doing something, reconsidering a past action," McCormick said Thursday morning.
