NASHVILLE -- Tennessee Democratic Party Chairwoman Mary Mancini today charged that Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson "is the worst of the worst" the GOP's multi-candidate field.

"His divisive rhetoric offends the very fabric of American culture and his lack of support of common sense policies will harm the American people," Mancini said of Carson, who is scheduled to be in Chattanooga on Sunday.

Mancini said that as a neurosurgeon Carson "should know more than any other GOP presidential candidate that access to affordable and quality health care is crucial for the 17 million Americans who have already been covered under the Affordable Care Act.

"Yet," she added, "he continues to attack it. Not surprising, really, since Dr. Carson dismisses any forward thinking policy designed for hardworking Americans and their families, like raising the minimum wage, Social Security, and an affordable college education."
