A state Democratic leader is weighing a bid to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, who is planning to run for re-election, in August's Democratic congressional primary.
Senate Minority Leader Lee Harris, D-Memphis, on Monday confirmed that he is considering running against Cohen, who represents the state's 9th District, which includes Memphis.
Harris, who was first elected to the state Senate in 2014, did not formally announce his intention to challenge Cohen but said he intends to listen to voters in the district.
