Alexander calls Senate hearings to spur 'difficult but possible' action on health care

WASHINGTON - Senators looking for ways to strengthen the insurance market will hear from governors and state health insurance commissioners at their first bipartisan hearings next month.

Extending cost-sharing reduction payments through 2018, is a priority for Sen. Lamar Alexander, the Tennessee Republican who chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Alexander also wants to increase flexibility for states to determine the policies they offer through a revision to Sect. 1332, which allows states to apply for waivers.
