NASHVILLE - Republican gubernatorial hopeful Randy Boyd today announced six Tennessee state lawmakers who will serve as his initial legislative co-chairs for his campaign.

In his news release, Boyd said the legislators "will be actively advising and working with me in my campaign for Governor as we work together to truly make Tennessee THE State of Opportunity for everyone in our state."

Those named are Sens. Richard Briggs and Becky Duncan Massey, both Knoxville Republicans; Rep. Kent Calfee, R-Kingston; Rep. John Ragan, R-Oak Ridge; Rep. Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, and Rep. Eddie Smith, R-Knoxville.

In a statement, Massey said the "future of our great state and the success of our families and communities will largely be about creating even greater opportunities for all Tennesseans around education and jobs. No one works harder or has already done more for our state on those two key issues than Randy Boyd. I am proud to endorse and support him as our next Republican Governor."

Boyd's campaign noted that several other state legislators back his candidacy and have contributed to the campaign.
