Q: Are granolas really all-natural and good for you?

A: Granola has become a popular health food over the past few years. Although most granolas are made with whole grains such as oats, many are high in calories and fat. Some companies have created granola that is lower in calories and fat and high in protein, which is usually a better choice. Read the ingredients list to avoid buying granola made with partially hydrogenated oil (trans fat) or with added sugars. Use in moderation for a good addition to trail mixes, parfaits or oatmeal.
