Seated in his office Thursday afternoon, UT-Chattanooga football coach Russ Huesman listened intently to a sports talk radio show on the Internet. The hot topic was quarterback B.J. Coleman's decision to leave the University of Tennessee.
Huesman said he has very little knowledge of the situation and can't say anything about Coleman, per NCAA rules. He also declined to comment on whether or not he had any plans to sign a player or two this summer.
There's already much speculation, on the airwaves and online, that Coleman is headed to UTC where his father, Bryon, was an offensive lineman from 1977 to '80 and played with Huesman.
Huesman said he saw Byron Coleman last Friday when both played in the Mocs' alumni golf tournament. However, he said they did not discuss B.J.'s situation, which also is prohibited by the NCAA.
Rising senior Jare Gault is the Mocs' No. 1 quarterback following spring practice. Gault started 10 games in 2008, when UTC went 1-11. Other quarterbacks on the roster are senior Tony Pastore and junior Cody Romans. The Mocs also have two freshman signees, including Ringgold's Zac Fairchild.
